7 Stocks you need to know for Friday

Ruby Tuesday (RT | charts | news | PowerRating) fell 14% on Thursday, after announcing that future revenues (2008) will miss projections by a long shot.

During market hours on Thursday, SLM Corporation (SLM | charts | news | PowerRating) missed earnings, announcing $0.70 EPS over an expected $0.73 EPS. Despite missing numbers, SLM fell only fractionally.

Wal-Mart (WMT | charts | news | PowerRating) rose about 3.4% on Thursday, after guiding higher for Q3 profit.

General Electric (GE | charts | news | PowerRating) reports earnings on Friday before the market opens, with traders looking for $0.50 EPS.

JP Morgan cut its Q3 revenue forecasts for Baidu.com mid-day, resulting in an industry-wide selloff; Baidu.com (BIDU | charts | news | PowerRating) fell -10% on the negative news.

J.C. Penney (JCP | charts | news | PowerRating) fell about 7% after missing estimates for September sales, while Nordstrom (JWN | charts | news | PowerRating) fell just over 7% on similar bad news.
