BCE Inc. (BCE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) plunged by more than 34% on Wednesday after signaling that the economic crisis may prevent the Canadian telecommunications giant from going private in December as planned.

Automakers continued their surge higher on Wednesday as General Motors (GM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) gained 35% and Ford Motor Company (F | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) was higher by 29%.
