Morning News

Futures are pointing to a slightly lower open this morning.

European markets are trading up just a bit so far today.

In Tokyo the Nikkei 225 did end slightly higher.

Crude oil is back above $80.00 per barrel.

Wholesale gasoline is $2.02 per gallon.

Natural gas currently $6.86 per unit.

Gold moving up to $748.00 per ounce.

August wholesale inventory numbers will be released at 10:00 this morning.

Energy Dept. will release weekly oil inventory levels at 10:30 this morning.

S&P 500 and the Dow both close at new highs.

Alcoa Inc. kicked off earnings season by reporting a penny short of expectations. The company did raise its stock buyback plan.

Chevron Corp. warning on expectations for third quarter earnings.

Chrysler to cut 5% of its salaried workers. The company still in talks with the United Auto Workers in an effort to avoid a strike.

MGM Mirage to build a $5 billion resort and casino in Atlantic City.
