Morning News

Futures are pointing to a lower open this morning.

In Europe markets are trading to the downside so far today.

In Tokyo the Nikkei 225 did end the day just a tick lower.

Sirius Satellite Radio and Xm Satellite Radio have agreed to a merger. XM shareholders would recieve 4.6 shares of Sirius if the companies can get the deal past the FCC, and the U.S. Dept. of Justice antitrust division. If that happens Mel Karmazin would remain in charge of the company.

Vulcan Materials to buy Florida Rock in a cash and stock deal.

Shire Plc. has agreed to buy New River Pharmaceuticals Inc. for $2.6 billion.

AB Volvo has made a bid to take over Nissan Diesel.

Home Depot Earnings seem to have come in a little light of street expectations.

JetBlue Airways stranding customers on airplanes for up to 8 hours, losing belongings of its passengers, and canceling over 1,100 flights over a six day period.

Crude oil is pulling back this morning current price is $58.29 per barrel.

Natural gas is $7.47 per unit.

Gold down just a bit to $670.00 per ounce.
