Morning News

  • Futures are up a bit this morning could see a slightly higher open.
  • Hurricane Rita now a category 4 hurricane bearing down on the Texas Gulf Coast could make landfall as early as tonight or very early Saturday morning. The storm still packing winds up near 140 mph with gust much higher than that.
  • BP PLC (BP) to pay $21.3 million fine for 300 violations found after a March explosion at it's Texas City refinery. The explosion caused 15 deaths, and more than 170 people were injured.
  • Alcoa Inc. (AA) The world's largest aluminium producer warning profits will fall well below expectations. The company blames falling prices, and higher energy cost.
  • Crude Oil is down this morning currently $65.75 per barrel.
  • Wholesale gasoline currently $2.06 per gallon.
  • Gold has pulled back a bit now $466.80 per ounce.
