A surprise rate hike that the Fed insists was simply procedural spooked stocks pre-open. However, a weaker than expected CPI report squelched inflation fears, leading to the bullish sentiment on the session. The DJIA added 9.45, the Nasdaq eased higher by 2.16 and the S&P 500 moved higher by 2.42.
