His work in helping navigate American International Group (AIG | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) through its government bailout largely complete, Edward Liddy has said that he will step down from his post as CEO to allow a longer-term replacement to take over the job.

General Motors (GM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) is likely to file for bankruptcy next week as part of a special government-brokered plan to restructure the struggling automaker.
