Morning News

Futures are pointing to a weak start today.

European markets are trading lower so far today.

In Tokyo the Nikkei 225 did end higher.

Crude oil is $91.26 per barrel.

Wholesale gasoline is $2.29 per gallon.

Natural gas is $8.10 per unit.

Gold sitting at $920.00 per ounce.

Weekly jobless claims will be released at 8:30 this morning.

December consumer spending set for release at 8:30 this am.

Chicago PMI for the month of Jan. will be released at 10:00 this morning.

Energy Dept. will release weekly natural gas inventories at 10:30 this morning.

Yesterday's action had the Dow close 37 points lower, the Nasdaq lost 9 points, and the S&P gave back just over 6 points.

Half point rate cut announced by the Fed yesterday afternoon.

MBIA Inc. reports $2.3 billion loss due to write off in the fourth quarter.

Amazon.com doubles fourth quarter profit, but outlook for the year below expectations.

Google Inc. will be out with quarterly results today.
