Morning News

Futures are pointing to a higher open at this point in the morning.

European markets are trading flat to slightly higher today.

In Tokyo the Nikkei 225 did end lower.

Crude oil is $75.31 per barrel.

Wholesale gasoline is $2.13 per gallon.

Natural gas down to $6.20 per unit.

Gold is currently $683.00 per ounce.

The dollar reached an all time low against the euro.

GlobalSantaFe Corp. and Transocean to merge which will form a $53 billion drilling company.

Barclays has lifted its bid for ABN Amro.

A few companies to report today include: Texas Instruments, American Express, and Merck.

Borders Group is stating they sold 1.2 million copies of latest Harry Potter book on the first day.

Wal Mart Stores to cut prices on 16,000 items which are mostly back to school items.

Merck just out with earnings looking like a better than expected quarter.
