Morning News

Futures are pointing to a slightly higher open.

European markets remain closed.

Most Asian markets did end the day higher. The Nikkei 225 eneded the day at seven month highs.

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hits southwestern Taiwan.

Holiday retailers saw just over 6% rise in sales from Thanksgiving to XMAS from one year ago. Last year for the same time period holiday sales rose 8%. Retailers expected to cut prices to draw after holiday shoppers.

Reports are out that flaws are being found in Windows Vista operating system.

Toyota reports for the 25th straight month an increase in production of vehicles.

Honda Motor Company saw a 10.6% hike in November vehicle sales. The company has seen a 6.6% rise over the past 11 months.

Iran continues to threaten it could use oil exports as a weapon. Over the weekend the U.N. agreed to sanctions on trade in nuclear materials and technology.

U.S. travelers as of Jan. 23rd will need to carry a passport to get back in the United States no matter where they are traveling from.

Crude oil is up a bit this morning to $63.01 per barrel.

Wholesale gasoline is $1.62 per gallon.

Natural gas is $6.33 per unit.

Gold is up a bit to $627.00 per ounce.
