Morning News

  • Futures are up a bit this morning pointing to a slightly higher open.
  • The Fed is expected to raise rates today. A quarter point hike is expected, but investors will be looking for any key phrase changes in the statements released this afternoon.
  • Weekly jobless claims will be released at 8:30 this morning.
  • First quarter GDP numbers will also be released this morning.
  • Red Hat's quarterly results fall short of consensus estimates.
  • Google Inc. set to launch online payment service.
  • Elan Corp. stating the company has recieved approval for its drug Tysabri by the European Union.
  • BP unit charged with manipulating propane prices back in 2004.
  • Officials in Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania have ordered the evacuation of up to 200,00 people due to flooding and levee concerns. Other areas in the Northeast are also dealing with flooding conditions.
  • Crude oil up a bit this morning to $72.52 per barrel.
  • Wholesale gasoline keeps moving higher. Current price is $2.23 per gallon.
  • Natural gas has pulled back to just under $6.00 per unit.
  • Gold not seeing much change current price is $583.00 per ounce.
