Morning News

  • Futures are up just a bit this morning pointing to a slightly higher open.
  • The Dow reaches six year highs yesterday.
  • Better than expected results reported by Google Inc. after the bell last night. Stock price moved higher in after hours trading, and both Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs have lifted price targets on the stock.
  • A 7.7 magnitude earthquake rocks remote area of east Russia.
  • PetroHawk to buy KCS Energy in a cash and stock deal.
  • Baker Hughes to sell its 30% stake in WesternGeco for $2.4 billion.
  • Prudential cuts Phelps Dodge Corp. to underweight and lowers its price target to $60.00 per share down from prior target of $80.00 per share.
  • General Motors shares rise yesterday on better than expected first quarter results.
  • Crude oil is currently around $73.00 per barrel
  • Wholesale gasoline is $2.19 per gallon.
  • Natural gas just under $8.00 per unit.
