Morning News

  • Futures are flat this morning pointing to a slightly lower open.
  • December Personal Income to be released today.
  • December Consumer Spending also to be released today.
  • Alan Greenspan preparing for his last interest rate meeting on tuesday. A one quarter percentage point increase is expected. He is leaving his post after 18 almost 19 years of service.
  • Reports are out that Citigroup may bid $11.5 billion to $15 billion for General Motors Acceptance Corp.
  • Arcelor has rejected a $22.7 billion hostile takeover bid by Mittal Steel.
  • OPEC meetings taking place in Vienna. It is expected that OPEC will maintain it's current production levels.
  • Lockheed Martin Corp. wins goverment contract worth $2 billion.
  • Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Inc. to be bought for $3.9 billion or $45.00 a share.
  • Crude Oil is $67.45 per barrel.
  • Wholesale Gasoline is $1.74 per gallon.
  • Natural Gas $8.40 per unit.
  • Gold is up just a bit this morning to $560.00 per ounce.
