Morning News

  • Futures are down this morning look for a lower open.
  • August Consumer Confidence Report released at 10 am.
  • July Factory Orders also at 10 am.
  • Hurricane Katrina has left a path of distruction along the Gulf Coast, and could be the most expensive storm on record. Early estimates call for between $12 billion to $26 billion in claims are expected.
  • Apple Computer (AAPL) expected to release new product info on September 7th. Expectations are the company will unveil an iPOD cell phone made by Motorola.
  • General Motors (GM) to meet and update analysts today.
  • Sprint Nextel (S) Closr to buying two smaller companies. A $400 million deal with IWO Holdings Inc, and a $288 million deal with Gulf Coast Wireless.
  • Crude Oil has climbed a bit this morning currently $68.20 per barrel.
  • Gold has really taken a beating as of late currently $439.40 per ounce.
