Morning News

  • Futures are pointing to a lower open this morning.
  • Hurricane Katrina making landfall as I write this post. The storm has lost some of it's intensity, but still remains a strong category 4 storm with winds of 145 miles per hour.
  • National average price of gasoline is up 13 cents to $2.65 per gallon over the past two weeks.
  • U.S. crude oil futures reached a record high of $70.80 per barrel. Natural gas has also spiked up $1.99 to $11.78
  • Stocks to watch in wake of this storm: Hospitality and Hotel operators, Energy and Oil companies, Insurance companies, Airline companies, and Building supply companies.
  • Crude oil is currently up over 3 bucks to 69.77 per barrel.
  • Gold has also jumped up a bit this morning currently $444.40 per ounce.
