Autodesk profit nearly doubles

Autodesk Inc. late Thursday reported its quarterly profit nearly doubled as revenue surged 33% on strong demand for its design software, and increased its outlook for the year, sending shares sharply higher. The company's stock gained 6% in extended-hours trading after the results handily outpaced expectations and the outlook for the year topped current analysts' expectations.
