What is a Momentum Play?

I have received several e-mails this past month asking me what exactly are you talking about when you say if a stock closes strong it could be a momentum play. I must take you back once again to an article that Jon Tait the Fickle Trader wrote back in May. Why is the closing price significant? The strategy is to buy a stock closing strong with hopes the momentum will continue the next trading day. Traders that play momentum will buy toward the close and sell in pre-market or within the first hour of trading the next day.
